Illdisposed: Return from tomorrow

09/01/08  ||  Kampfar

If you don’t like Illdisposed you are not my friend, said a 12 year old retard. Fuck that shit, but I can guarantee you I would be bloody likely to ignore your advices as far as death metal goes after hearing you disclaim this band as quality Death metal. Yeah, the capital d was very much intended.

Illdisposed first full-length, “Four depressive seasons,” bore evidence of an unfinished band, one with good ideas, some even very, lacking both the skills and experience to pull them off properly. It’s a kinda of charming listen, nostalgic even, but me thinks “Return from tomorrow” blows it into smithereens.

They didn’t evolve into a fucking clockwork all of a sudden, but for this fine EP they entered the studio good enough at their instruments to let the metal flow, in a sloppy but distinct manner. In addition you can Mr. Summer has taken form, and I dare to say that he is at the top of his game at this early stage of his career already, making sounds I would be worried if my son uttered. Not that I have or want one.

I know groove is kinda overused, like pretty much everything else, but I speak the truth, though not while riding and shooting, when I say Illdisposed will fucking move you. Not the lame of course. Both “Return from tomorrow” and “Submit” fills me with this feeling of strength, like I could hit a guy and break his fucking face inwards. Can you ask for more from a Death metal album? Ehm, EP.

No, so be sure to download this sluggish piece of excellent death before the net collapse.

(I know about the Nuclear blast release with 3 more tracks. Fuck off)

8 out of 10.
